How to use e-Form?

To use e-Form, you need:
1.
e-Form program: the program for filling-in an e-Form. It can support digital signing using digital certificates that are embedded in Smart ID Cards issued by the HKSAR Government via appropriate smart card readers in addition to those stored in floppies/hard drives. This program can be downloaded from the "Download Area" of this Web site. Note that this program has bundled (a) SUN Microsystems' Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) which provides the environment for the exclusive use of the e-Form program; and (b) Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set (HKSCS) which facilitates you to input and read Chinese characters that are commonly used in Hong Kong.

Individual e-Form: this is a blank electronic version of the existing common Government forms. A full list of the e-Forms is available in the Government form search Web site at http://www.info.gov.hk/forms for you to download the Government forms you need.

Digital certificate: for you to digitally sign those e-Forms which require a signature. For application of the digital certificate, please visit the Web sites of respective certification authorities.

Corresponding hardware: e-Form operates on 233MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU with minimum 64 megabytes of RAM and 50 megabytes of free harddisk space. You will also need a modem for Internet access (for e-Form submission via internet e-Mail) and/or an appropriate smart card reader for digitally signing the e-Forms with the digital certificate embedded in Smart ID Card issued by the HKSAR Government. Corresponding software: If you wish to access digital certificate embedded in Smart ID Card aforementioned, you will also need to download and install software such as the e-Cert Control Manager Utility and other required software. For further details, please visit the Hongkong Post Web site.
